yamaha mediumMajenta Solutions, a supplier of computer-aided design engineering software and IT infrastructure solutions, is to sponsor British historic motorcycle race series champion, Mike Russell, throughout the coming racing season.

Three-times winner of the British Historic Grand Prix (GP) Championship – in 2010, 2012 and 2013 – and a podium finisher in many other motorcycle races in recent years, privateer Mike Russell will be supported by Majenta Solutions in his attempt to win the ACU (Auto-Cycle Union) 350 Championship this year on his 1981 Yamaha TZ 350.

Organised by the Classic Motorcycle Racing Club (CMRC) and BEMSEE and taking place at some of the UK’s premier race circuits under the auspices of the ACU, the ACU 350 Championship is a full national championship, rather than a club or regional event. As such it attracts some of the best riders, many of whom are multiple championship winners.

“Majenta Solutions’ sponsorship support is going to be a tremendous benefit to me this year,” stated Russell. “It will enable me to concentrate on getting the best out of the bike at all times without having to worry too much about other aspects of the campaign, such as garage costs and race entry fees”.

Clare Tucker, marketing manager, Majenta Solutions, explained, “We have many customers in the automotive industry and its supply chain in the UK, as well as customers in other sectors of manufacturing industry, many of whom have an interest in motor-sport. So apart from the synergy this sponsorship agreement brings in that respect, it gives us the opportunity to entertain our customers at a number of race meetings during the year by way of a ‘thank you’ and as a way of cementing relationships”.

Built by Mike Russell during the winter of 2012/2013, the 1981 Yamaha TZ 350 that he will be riding this season sports a ‘G’ specification, i.e. 6 port head, 350cc water cooled, twin two stroke engine producing 75bhp, with a six speed gearbox, housed within an original Harris ‘Low Boy’ frame.

The bike is true to the original TZ 350 in most respects but as Mike Russell points out, to win requires the very best equipment possible. With Majenta Solutions’ sponsorship, he will be able to develop the bike using only the best parts available and leave him able to concentrate on being competitive.
