ALS Training of Wales, and part of the Cardiff and Vale College Group of companies, is celebrating a highly positive Ofsted inspection of its Aerospace Apprenticeship programme in England.
The report highlights strong performance across several key areas, including leadership and management, learner achievement, curriculum design and teaching standards.
Inspectors met with apprentices, delivery staff and senior leaders to assess the quality and impact of the work-based training provision.
In the report, which was published on January 30, Ofsted highlighted the strong relationship between training provider, employer and learner as a key strength of the programme.
It noted that apprentices make excellent progress throughout the Aerospace Apprenticeship programme, with achievement and apprenticeship pass rates exceeding the national average.
ALS Training’s inclusive and supportive culture was also praised, with a focus on apprentices’ wellbeing, safety and professional development being central to the organisation’s approach. A wide range of pastoral support services, including access to a 24-hour helpline staffed by healthcare professionals, assistance with travel expenses, and tailored support to help apprentices succeed academically and personally is offered by ALS Training.
Tutors and delivery staff also received praise for their course knowledge and strong commitment to professional development. The curriculum and teaching methods were described as ambitious and future-focused, with a clear emphasis on developing the skills needed for the future of the aerospace industry.
Commenting on the inspection outcome, ALS Training Director, Sarah John, said:
“This is an excellent result and a real credit to our apprentices, staff, employer partners and CAVC Group. We are incredibly proud of the inclusive and supportive learning environment we have created, and the report reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality training that meets both learner needs and the demands of the aerospace industry.”
