The event will explore multiphysics simulation applications and modelling topics in support of innovation and design in the optics & photonics industries.
COMSOL, developer of the COMSOL Multiphysics® simulation software, has announced that COMSOL Day: Optics & Photonics will be held on Tuesday, November 26, from 10am to 3:45pm GMT. This online event will feature keynote speakers from Toshiba Europe Ltd, University College Dublin, Ireland and LumOptics Ltd. The event will also include COMSOL-led technical sessions, providing insights into the possibilities and how-tos of optical simulations.
Modelling and simulation has proven to be a powerful asset in the design and manufacturing of optics and photonics based devices, allowing engineers to develop and implement innovative ideas and find optimal configurations to increase bandwidth or spatial resolution
Optical analysis is crucial for predicting the performance of communication systems, sensors, laser components, cameras, lithography systems, plasmonic metamaterials, photonic crystals and much more. By introducing modelling and simulation early in the design process, the cost of testing can be reduced and the behaviour of devices can be understood, even in operational conditions that can only be represented virtually.
The event program will cover the following topics:
- Keynote | Design of Bullseye Resonators for Semiconductor Quantum Light Sources
- Keynote | Ultra-Short Pulse Laser Filamentation Modelling Using PDEs in COMSOL Multiphysics®
- Modelling Optics & Photonics with COMSOL Multiphysics®
- Design & Optimisation of Optical Waveguides & Systems
- Ray Optics & STOP Analysis
- Plasmonics & Metamaterials
- Semiconductor Devices
A Q&A session will follow each keynote talk and technical presentation.
