The Subcon, Advanced Manufacturing and Engineer Design & Innovation shows are just days away, and breaking news includes new conference speakers, new workshop sessions and a host of new products and services being launched by exhibitors.
The three events, which take place at the NEC from 2nd to 4th June, will showcase over 450 leading suppliers, with exhibitors showcasing a multitude of new subcontracting services and manufacturing technology products.
The latest conference speakers to be confirmed include Joel Gibbard, CEO and Founder of Open Bionics who has been a pioneer in the use of 3D printing the produce low-cost robotic hands. Also on the theme of 3D printing, John Dunstan, head of BAE Systems’ Agile Product Development Centre, will talk about how it is applying cutting-edge additive technology.
New workshop sessions will offer practical sessions from Zone Sponsors in The Advanced Manufacturing Show and The Engineer Design & Innovation Show. They include sessions from Matsuura on unmanned running and automation, from Trumpf on the latest developments in materials processing, from Nikon Metrology on multi-sensor inspection, reducing test costs by JMP, business software by Exact, and the ‘real truth about additive manufacturing’ by SYS Systems.
Complementing the advice on offer on skills, business improvement and access to finance in the free Advisory Drop-In Centre at the shows, the UKTI is offering support on successful exporting. Visitors can book an appointment with a member of the UKTI team to discuss how they can support growth into international markets. The message will be reinforced by special conference sessions from advisers at the China Britain Business Council.
Also just announced is the Software Lab, a new hands-on feature will allow visitors to discover the latest and best CAD/CAM, and simulation software from the leading suppliers who are exhibiting at the show – these include Eplan, Spaceclaim, Delcam and Solidcam. Fujitsu staff will be on hand to advise on the performance functionality of its work stations.
The key attraction for most visitors though will be to see what’s new from the exhibitors. This years’ shows will see a wealth of new products and services launching at the three shows.
Breaking news from exhibitors includes:
• Dyer Engineering is launching a new NORSOK standard paint facility offering shot-blasting and wet paint for fabricated structures up to 10 tonnes in weight and 15m long.
• A new service from China Savvy offers castings up to 20 tonnes which can be machined to an accuracy of 0.03mm.
• The first ever Ukraine stand at Subcon will feature metalworking specialist Red October and a range of plastic moulding and mould-making services. Ukraine is under 3 hours flight from London, and a recently signed free trade agreement means 0% import duty.
• Phoenix Dynamics will be showcasing its new alliance with Advanced Fiber Products that brings together copper wire harness and fibre optic expertise.
• Qimtek will be launching a beta version of its new, enhanced online web platform, to connect buyers with suppliers. It will be asking for input from visitors to make sure that it fully meets the changing demands of buyers sourcing products and services within the UK manufacturing sector.
• OPEN MIND Technologies AG will be giving the UK marketplace the first opportunity to see the 2015 version of its hyperMILL CAD/CAM package. This includes new optimisations, machining strategies and intuitive features that can further exploit the possibilities of modern CNC machines.
• Aktis Engineering Solutions is launching a new 3D scanning and reverse engineering service following the purchase of the latest Steinbichler COMET BLUE L3D 5M, scanner.
• HTA will showcase the capabilities of its new fully automated laser cutting system which includes two Trumpf TruLaser 5040 Brightline Fiber and expands its capacity to over 1000 hours per week.
• Investment in new simulation technology allows Alucast allows it to ensure optimum quality and mechanical properties in its castings. It has also added low pressure casting to its capabilities.
• Fibracon will be exhibiting for the first time its and Insoll Components were acquired by the Röchling to create a substantially enhanced offering for the CNC machining of high-performance plastics.
• Valuechain.com will show how it is co-operating with three aerospace supply chain companies on an innovative NATEP project for a game-changing supply chain collaboration platform that will provide unprecedented supply chain visibility and streamline new product introduction processes in complex aerospace supply chains.
• A new 1,200 tonne press means Epedal can now offer progression and transfer presswork on blank or coil material up to 1500mm wide and 6mm thick.
