Euchner’s new non-contact safety switch fits the bill for demanding applications

To combat the on-going problems with arduous environments prematurely wearing out exposed equipment, Euchner has recently launched a range of compact encapsulated non-contact safety switches which they say can outlast conventional IP-Rated safety-switches many times over.

The CES-C14 switch features an encapsulated ingress-proof design, comprising a two-part epoxy resin outer shell, extensively tested for chemical resistance including ammonia, diesel, silicates, kerosene, acetates and alkaline and acidic cleaning agents & disinfectants in accordance with Ecolab specifications.

The Euchner CES-C14 is supplied with a 20M PUR connection cable, and in addition to a very tough outer shell, it offers a high degree of ingress protection including IP67/IP69K.

The units are designed with a high level of integrity and can be used in systems up to and including CAT4/PLe (EN ISO 13849-1). With two semiconductor safety-outputs these switches can easily be integrated into the majority of safety- related control systems including where the replacement of existing, less reliable switches is required.

To ensure dependable operation the well-designed switch has a high tolerance to misalignment and can be provided in both Unicode and Multicode versions: The Unicode units create a ‘matched pair’ of switch and actuator preventing personnel manipulating the safety system through the use of a spare actuator – helping the facility meet the requirements of the safety standard EN-ISO 14119.

To ensure maximum up-time of the plant and equipment the CES-C14 switches have two wide-angle LED’s giving straightforward diagnostic information about the status of the switch.
