Wixroyd’s New Expander Spring Plungers
No matter the industry; machine construction, medical, lighting or electronics, Wixroyd spring plungers can be found everywhere. A popular variation is the push fit spring plunger, with its smooth body and locating collar. These are quick and easy to install to tight tolerances, and achieve consistent precision.
But what if the material you are working with cannot be machined precisely without incurring additional costs and man hours? Many plastic injection moulding companies are faced with this; a process which produces wide ranging bore tolerances often necessitates a secondary machining operation to achieve tighter tolerances. Material inconsistency, as found in wood and many softer materials; plastics, aluminium etc., also present challenges when using positioning and indexing components such as spring plungers.
Wixroyd have developed a unique solution in its Expander Fit spring plunger whose flexible split body design expands or contracts to best suit the installation hole tolerance. Operating in a method similar to wall anchoring plugs the Expander Fit spring plunger can accommodate holes whose tolerance range from +0 to +0,2mm.
This development takes spring plungers, an already a globally used location solution, into wider applications to work with materials and processes of lower tolerances and consistency

Wixroyd compression latches: close, seal and isolate

Many access panels are subject to vibration, noise or both. A range of environments require such sound proofing, from Kitchen Ventilation, transport and machine operation in food packaging or bespoke built machines.
Recently, Wixroyd helped a large food packaging company with stainless cam locks that allow quick and easy access to panels for food inspection. Conveyors on the machine created constant noise and vibration, and the panel had to stay closed and provide a measure of soundproofing.
The A1601 compression Latch was the answer. It has a mechanism that provides 6mm of compression to secure the latch in position. It’s IP54 rating guarded against ingress of material near the food and so the possibility of contamination on what is after all, a machine that inspects for contamination! Its square insert actuation means that it was quick and easy to open.
