Returning for its fifth year on 20th and 21st May, PD+I, the longstanding must-attend event for industrial designers welcomes Jaime Moreno, CEO & creative director at Mormedi, to its speaker lineup.
Jaime has a wealth of experience to pass on to delegates, after completing his first year of Architecture at the Madrid Polytechnic, he moved to Switzerland where he obtained a Degree in Transportation Design at the Art Center College of Design, before upgrading his studies with seminars at Harvard, IESE, IE and Saint Louis University Business School. Jaime’s career began as a design consultant for Philips with the Domestic Appliances department in Holland. He formed Mormedi in 1997, and since then the company has gone from strength to strength, with groundbreaking projects for companies like Airbus, Alstom, BBVA, BMW AG, BQ, Castrosua, SOGERMA, Hino, Hyundai, Iberia, Legrand, LG, MTR, Nissan, Philips, RATP, Renfe, Siemens, Rodman, SICMA, Telefonica, Toyota, Vodafone and Virgin Atlantic among many others. Several Mormedi products have been recognised with international awards such as Good Design, Red Dot and IF.
Jaime takes to the stage to offer his expertise in designing for air travel, using examples from Mormedi’s work with Iberia, Spain’s flagship carrier, in updating its current long haul fleet. The challenge was to create an elegant, modern and functional design that would fulfill all ergonomic, maintenance and technical requirements. The final product improves business class user experience, comfort and privacy and reduces passengers’ density thanks to a cutting edge design. Economy class was also improved, gaining comfort and having personal leisure systems.
On speaking at PD+I 2015 Jaime commented: “Design can be very powerful, it is a strategic tool if it is used correctly throughout organisations. I have followed the PD+I conference for many years now and I like very much the content and the speakers, which is why I wanted to get involved.”
