Dennis Turner, the former chief economist for HSBC, has been announced as the keynote speaker on the opening day of this year’s Plastics Design and Moulding Exhibition and Summit (PDM12).
Turner’s keynote is expected to review the current state of manufacturing in the UK economy, our close relationship with the critical Eurozone and outline what we need to do to get back to growth. He will argue that the government has to create the right conditions for manufacturers, as well as covering what industry needs to do for itself.
“Manufacturing has a key role to play in resurrecting the UK economy and plastics design is one of the areas where we can still lead the world,” said Steve Crowhurst, event director. He added: “Dennis Turner is exceptionally well qualified to explain to us how plastics design and manufacture in the UK can lead by being smarter rather than cheaper.”
The summit, which is free to attend, will look at in-depth topics that focus on best practice in plastics design. Design and innovation case studies will also be reviewed and the event will feature sessions from the British Plastics Federation’s rotomoulders.
The summit will be held at the ExCel Centre in London from 29-30 May 2012.
