ifm has launched the LMH point level sensor, a robust solution engineered for reliable medium detection in demanding industrial environments.
Designed to operate continuously at high temperatures up to 250 °C, the new sensor addresses critical challenges in sectors such as food production, pharmaceuticals, and chemical processing. Its specialised ceramic measuring tip ensures durability and precision, even when exposed to abrasive media or intense heat cycles.
The LMH sensor distinguishes itself with a measuring tip constructed from pure, robust ceramic. This choice of material provides exceptional resistance to abrasion, significantly extending the service life of the device in harsh applications. Whether deployed in deep-frying lines, milk pasteurisation, or CIP/SIP processes, the sensor maintains constant process quality by reliably detecting both water-based and oil-based media. This versatility makes it equally suitable for condensation processes and high-temperature applications within the biotech industry.
A key advantage of the LMH is its dual functionality. By transmitting both the medium’s temperature and point level via IO-Link, the sensor reduces the complexity of process instrumentation. This integration eliminates the need for additional measuring points, streamlining installation and maintenance efforts while providing comprehensive process data. The device also incorporates effective media deposit suppression technology. This feature prevents incorrect switching caused by residue build-up, eliminating the risks of containers running empty or being overfilled, which is critical for maintaining operational efficiency and safety.
Flexibility remains a core component of the design. The LMH point level sensor is adaptable to both hygienic and industrial environments through a sophisticated sealing concept. This design allows the sensor to be tailored to individual process conditions without compromising performance or hygiene standards. Operators can choose between variants pre-set for water-based or oil-based media to suit specific application requirements.
