Wixroyd, a leading brand in the engineering components industry, has a new tool free fastening solution. “One Touch” fasteners work on a simple combination of pin-and-receptacle to attach fixtures, plates, machine covers and more, joining components with moderate clamping force.

One Touch fasteners introduce an ease and security not seen before in applications usually involving the cumbersome process of nut and bolt assemblies. Available in ball-locking, cam-locking, ball clamping and magnet-lock clamping pins styles One Touch fasteners offer different strengths to suit varying applications:

Ball Locking One Touch Fasteners-
Similar to a ball lock pin, the pin uses balls on the shaft to secure it into the receptacle. The balls themselves are disengaged when the actuation button is pressed and engage upon release. A recessed button version is available that promotes a safer environment by reducing the risk of accidental actuation of the button. Alternatively, quarter turn t- handle ball locking versions are also available having the added benefit of visually indicating whether or not the fasteners in the open or closed position.

Cam Locking One Touch Fasteners-

This style uses variations of a quarter turn handle to actuate locking. The fasteners pin follows the cam profile of the receptacle directing the pin into the locked position, and at the same time positively pulling the two clamped surfaces tightly together. For more discrete applications a low profile handle is available.

Ball Clamping One Touch Fasteners-

These use ball bearings in the receptacle to grip the recess on the pins shaft. In this instance the receptacles come in two varieties; mechanical or safety release. To actuate the mechanical release it is just a case of applying enough force to pull the receptacle off the pin, whereas the safety release receptacle uses a push and twist motion to engage/disengage the balls before it can be removed.

Magnet Locking One Touch Fasteners-
As the style name suggests it uses a magnetic force to produce a clamping affect. The clamping force is limited at 7N and the pin allows for a shear strength of 900N.

One-Touch fasteners help increase productivity by reducing set up times, eliminating errors in assembly and installation and simplifying procedures. Users whose applications required regular disassembly/assembly, or frequent changes of set up or reconfiguration of production equipment would benefit from the efficiency of One Touch Fasteners, these include; food manufacturers, pharmaceutical assembly lines and bottling plants.

Other application examples for One-Touch fasteners include the attachment of conveyors, star wheels, guide plates, shooters, pushers, handling machine chucks, rotary blades and maintenance covers on machines, to name just a few.

One Touch Fasteners open up new possibilities for rapid change machinery and applications.
The long term benefits to a business utilizing this engineering component are significant as well as simple to implement.
