Paragon Rapid Technologies is a one-stop-shop for rapid prototypes and on-demand production parts. The company provides support throughout the product development cycle, from innovation to manufacturing. Founded over 15 years ago, their specialist service engineers help businesses across multiple industries excel by bringing complex designs to life and ensuring supply chains remain agile.

The company has its sights on growth as an element of their five-year plan is to turnover £15m per year by 2025. To reach this, CEO and Founder, Phillip Adamson, has predicted additive manufacturing to be the largest contributor and has identified key areas of focus including the medical and healthcare field, specifically in orthotics and prosthetics. This is in line with the HP Digital Manufacturing Report[i] findings where medical, industrial, and dental/automotive were called out as the industries most ripe for innovation in additive manufacturing/3D printing over the next five years.

As Paragon Rapid Technologies aims to grow, it recognises the need to offer an additive manufacturing solution that delivers on productivity, sustainability, quality and cost efficiency. To address this, they have installed a HP Jet Fusion 5200 printer in their purpose-built facility at the Darlington Headquarters. The printer enables them to scale up production with minimal wastage and allows for faster processing and therefore faster delivery of completed parts. The addition of HP Jet Fusion technology complements and expands Paragon’s current additive manufacturing offering and means the business can accommodate a broader range of applications which, in turn, enables higher levels of customer engagement.

Paragon is expanding into orthotics initially, due to the growing consumer base of career and recreational athletes and the rise in injury equipment they require. It then plans to then enter the prosthetics market. Both markets are advanced in their adoption of additive manufacturing technologies, due to the extremely bespoke nature of their products.

“HP Jet Fusion technology allows for the level of customisation and accuracy which is crucial in making affective solutions for the end user. It also enables a more sustainable production line through its material recyclability compared to traditional SLS processes, helping Paragon reach its sustainability goals.” said George Brasher, MD UK&I, HP.

“We’re really looking forward to this exciting opportunity to add value to this sector, working in close partnership with the team at HP. We’ll be delivering advanced manufacturing solutions to enhance patient health and wellbeing without compromising quality, sustainability and efficiency goals.” – Phillip Adamson, CEO and Founder, Paragon Rapid Technologies.

With its new offering, Paragon is confident that it has a winning end-to-end solution for its customers. The combination of the HP Jet Fusion manufacturing solution and the DyeMansion post-finishing benefits, including surface finishing and colouring, offer a more comprehensive, well rounded solution for end-use parts. The aim for this is to broaden the market opportunity and applications which could utilise the solution.
