Showcasing this year our trusty, faithful products along with fresh new lines

It’s been a bright and busy start to the year for us here at Permabond. We’ve launched several new adhesive solutions, exhibited at shows both at home and abroad, and further developed relationships with key industry partners.

Permabond 737, also lovingly known as ‘Black Magic’ due to its jet-black colour and magical adhesion properties, is still the go-to cyanoacrylate adhesive in many industries and shows that you don’t need to reinvent the wheel in order to be innovative.

Black Magic is still pretty unique amongst cyanoacrylates due to its rubber toughening, which results in an adhesive with higher temperature resistance, peel strength and overall impact resistance than other adhesives in its class. This toughening also means that 737 offers greater flexibility than other cyanoacrylates, making it great for bonding dissimilar substrates and even making it effective on zinc, a notoriously tricky substrate to bond with cyanoacrylates. If you’re in need of a tough, fast-curing adhesive that’s great in anybody’s toolbox, maybe it’s time to go back to black?

With this said, we do like a good new product launch, and talking of black, our TA4208 Black structural acrylic adhesive has been flying off the shelves since we launched it earlier in the year. It was designed specifically with composite material bonding in mind, and is particularly effective on carbon fibre with its professional, jet-black colour matched finish. One of its key features is the fact that it is non-slumping, making it highly suited to vertical applications and anywhere where ‘sagging’ could be an issue. This product is also a big time saver, as its surface adhesion technology means it can even bond through oily surfaces, with minimal need for surface preparation before bonding. If you want to see for yourself – take a look at our short video here.

This rugged & ready adhesive achieves a fixture time in just 6 minutes, and a working strength in 20. You’d be forgiven for expecting the adhesive to be less resilient as a compromise for its rapid cure speed, but in fact the opposite is true – ET503 develops outstanding strength and toughness and offers excellent environmental durability when compared to other epoxy adhesives.

Amongst ET503’s key features are its excellent water, moisture and humidity resistance. It can actively withstand salt water and can even be bonded underwater, should the need arise! Both of these are very rare qualities for any adhesive. Not only this, but its ability to reach a full cure even at temperatures as low as 5°C makes it the perfect candidate for outdoor bonding. Left your warehouse doors open on a chilly winter day? No problem, as ET503 will still do its job properly without you having to ramp up your heating bill.

UV643 50ML Group Shot 073Lastly, Permabond UV643 is our very latest product launch. This adhesive offers a full cure in less than a second with a high-powered UV lamp. This curing speed is one of the fastest that we have ever been able to offer, truly defining the term ‘fast-curing adhesive.’ Ideally suited to bonding both rigid and thermoplastics, as well as dissimilar materials, UV643 is a next generation-product perfect for high speed production lines.

Continuing the theme of great environmental durability, the fact that UV643 passes 85/85 testing (whereby an adhesive is subject to 85% relative humidity at 85°C for a prolonged period of time – up to 1,000 hours) showcases its abilities to withstand water, heat and moisture, as well as highlighting its suitability for automotive applications. UV643 also actively resists both thermal cycling and adhesive yellowing, ensuring a clean, smooth and professional finish that lasts. Permabond will be exhibiting at Smart Manufacturing & Engineering Week at the NEC again this year, on stand 4-Q90. Last year was our first time exhibiting at this show and we had a great time all round, speaking to fascinating people with equally fascinating adhesive applications and challenges. We’re very much looking forward to being back again this year, and hope that the conversations will be even more intriguing. We’d love to see you there for a chat – you can register your attendance at the show HERE completely free of charge.
