New from Panasonic Electric Works is the FP-Safe series, which extends the FP series PLC’s with safety-related functions, certified according to DIN EN62061 SIL CL3.
FP-Safe units are connected to the FP series PLCs via RS232C so that information about the execution status of safety-related functions, as well as when and where they occurred, can be monitored. Up to five safety-related functions can be configured for one base unit, as well as simple standstill and motion monitoring, etc. Expansion units with transistor and relay outputs mean even more safety circuits can be added. For advanced motion safety such as standstill, speed and direction of rotation monitoring, a motion monitoring unit can be attached to the base unit. It is also possible to add a Panasonic HMI to the setup.
