ATP TriPress fasteners from Arnold Umformtechnik are expected to be used in place of conventional weld-on studs by the automotive division of Hetal-Werke of?Germany, which specialises in the full scope of kinematic subassemblies and hinges in the passenger car seating area.
With their triangular shape, the studs can be pressed into plastic and light metal materials. Not only do these suit the anticipated use of lighter materials in car construction, but the number of manufacturing operations is reduced compared to a welded-stud option, shortening cycle times and saving costs.
