Millbrook, the leading independent vehicle test and validation services provider, will once again host, and exhibit at, the Cenex-LCV show on 12-13 September 2018. The event attracts more than 3,000 attendees and is a showcase of low-carbon and connected vehicle technology.

  • The UK’s premier Low Carbon Vehicle event, 12-13 September 2018
  • Millbrook to promote its capabilities as the UK’s leading hub of vehicle test and validation
  • Latest, large-scale investments in battery, connected and autonomous vehicle, cold-weather, and electric propulsion testing explained on stand C3-605
  • Millbrook’s experts to speak on critical issues as part of the seminar programme and live capability demonstrations
  • Video highlighting the unique features of Cenex-LCV, filmed in 2017, is available to view

Millbrook offers a unique blend of facilities, expertise and vision in these areas. It has been investing heavily in the people and equipment for testing advanced low emission vehicle technology and can test every aspect of an electric or hybrid propulsion system – from components and sub-assemblies through to full systems and whole vehicles. It has a range of capabilities for Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) testing, including soft targets, instrumentation and a virtual model of its proving ground in the UK. In addition, it offers cold-weather test facilities in Finland with sub-zero temperatures year-round, perfect for driven tests in a cold environment.

To expand its capacity and capabilities, it is currently installing 12 battery cycling test chambers, each able to test automotive battery packs up to 1100V, 1400A, 750kW over a temperature range of -40°C to +90°C, and the first independent full-vehicle 4E hybrid powertrain rig in the UK, which will allow its customers to speed up the development of propulsion systems, transmissions and stability control strategies.

It is hosting the UK’s first transport 5G network – over the coming months the AutoAir project lead by Airspan Networks will deliver pervasive 4G and 5G connectivity at Millbrook Proving Ground though a dense network of base stations around the test tracks. And, together with UKAEA’s RACE, it is launching a unique, controlled to semi-controlled test bed for CAVs representative of an urban environment; the roads and test tracks at Culham Science Centre and Millbrook Proving Ground are being upgraded to capture the complexity of real urban contexts and to enable advanced connectivity testing.

Alex Burns, President of Millbrook says: “We are busy creating the perfect environment for low and zero emissions, connected and autonomous vehicle testing, particularly here in the UK and also overseas. The combination of the established facilities and the investment and continued expansion of recent years should leave the industries that we serve without any doubt that Millbrook is the market leader in these areas. It’s entirely appropriate that we are also hosting Cenex-LCV, and we look forward to welcoming the event back here in September.”

At the event, visitors will be able to drive exhibitors’ vehicles on Millbrook’s tracks, including the High Speed Circuit and Hill Route. Exhibitors will demonstrate their latest product updates and technology in the vast indoor and outdoor exhibition space. It has also been announced that the Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) Summit, including senior government representation, will be taking place during the first day of Cenex-LCV, hosted in Millbrook’s brand-new Building 22.
