1As a new era of e-mobility emerges, it’s accompanied by new manufacturing challenges that require new material solutions. Companies must innovate in order to meet these challenges. Techsil work in partnership with Momentive and their advanced material solutions play an essential role in the vehicles of today and tomorrow. From thermal management and battery solutions to cable and connector materials; from sensor coatings to adhesives and seals. Momentive’s innovative silicone materials combined with Techsil’s engineering design consultative approach will help shape the future of e-mobility and drive our new vehicles forward.

Power Electronics

Vehicle power electronics process, control and distribute electric power to other vehicle systems, as well as control the speed and torque of the motor. Momentive and Techsil offer thermal management pastes, housing sealing adhesives, potting and encapsulation resins for power electronics, including inverter systems (and IGBT modules), DC/DC converters, on-board chargers and other ECU modules. Techsil can also offer superfast curing silicone foams to improve light-weighting and moisture ingress protection.

High Voltage Battery Systems

Silicones for automotiveMomentive and Techsil offer material solutions for battery modules include thermal management (thermal gap fillers & adhesives), thermal potting and gel encapsulation, and sealing adhesives. For battery housing components, Momentive’s SFR100 silicone fluid is a non-halogenated flame retardant enables excellent EV fire safety performance without compromising other important properties such as mechanical toughness or non-corrosiveness.

The automotive electronics industry is undergoing a paradigm shift. Changes to the powertrain have become necessary to take the next big step in CO2 reduction. The migration from internal combustion engines to full EVs is progressing in steps; 48V electrical systems will pave the way for medium voltage HEVs (hybrid electric vehicles) and high voltage, full electric vehicles. Currently many OEMs are still facing challenges with battery cost, safety, range, charging time and infrastructure. Full EVs are inevitable as technologies are progressing and costs are coming down. The ultimate goal is an optimized powertrain architecture with an affordable level of electrification.

Almost all innovations related to the reduction of CO2 emissions or the enhancement of safety, comfort and infotainment are based on electronics and software. As space for additional components is limited and more and more systems are being introduced, miniaturization and system integration will drive a need for thermal management solutions.

These new components will be smaller, more powerful and more efficient. The higher energy density will translate to increased operating temperatures and heat output. In order to operate these Techsil Thermal 960 x 540new devices and maintain their performance over their lifetime, advanced thermal management solutions are necessary.

Momentive CartridgesNew Low Energy Housing Sealant

Techsil supplies a fantastic material across many Automotive Electronic platforms which offers unrivalled adhesion to many automotive substrates, metal or plastic, for lid sealing on ECU modules. In the current environment of energy awareness, we have been working at reducing cure temperatures but maintaining acceptable adhesion, given the exacting nature of its role. We believe we have a state of the art new solution to reduce those energy costs for you.

NEW UV-Curing Silicone

Techsil has a new range of UV/Moisture cure silicones, designed to be fast cured in UV light but also having secondary moisture cure. Designed as adhesives, coatings and encapsulants this series has been tested on many different substrates and environmental conditions, and offers shorter cure temperatures and lower energy consumption. Techsil has a data pack of test results and we have UV equipment in our well stocked laboratory to facilitate sampling on parts
