A new manufacturing business, Surface Coating Ltd, has officially launched on the Granby Industrial Estate, bringing advanced blasting, powder coating and wet spray finishing facilities to Dorset.
The launch represents a major investment in new equipment, facilities and skilled jobs, with the company creating up to 15 new roles (10 full-time) in its first phase. Surface Coating Ltd is designed to support the region’s growing defence, aerospace and advanced manufacturing sectors, providing the high-quality finishing capacity that has been in short supply across the South West.
Operating to ITAR and NADCAP standards, with formal accreditation underway, the company has been built from the ground up to meet the stringent requirements of regulated industries. These internationally recognised benchmarks ensure traceable, secure, and compliant finishing – essential for sensitive projects where quality and reliability cannot be compromised.
Surface Coating Ltd offers:

This combination allows clients to complete every stage of fabrication and finishing through a single point of contact, reducing lead times, transport costs and complexity – while guaranteeing consistency across every project.

The company’s long-term plans include formal accreditation to NADCAP and ITAR, and active membership of the Surface Engineering Association (SEA). Surface Coating Ltd also plans to work closely with local training providers to build its apprenticeship programme and develop new technical skills within the Weymouth area.
