ABB to show how automation is a recipe for success in food, beverage and pharmaceuticals production

ABB will be demonstrating how its latest technologies can transform performance in food, beverage and pharmaceutical manufacturing processes at PPMA 2018, taking place at the Birmingham NEC, 25th – 27th September 2018. Stand F80 will feature examples from ABB’s extensive automation and digital portfolio, with experts on hand to explain how they can be deployed to help address the growing demands of today’s cost-conscious, choice-hungry consumers.

Demonstrations will show how products such as ABB’s FlexPicker and YuMi™ collaborative robots, process controllers, food safe stainless-steel motor and the new smart sensor for motors can help manufacturers to realise all-round improvements in efficiency, quality and cost effectiveness whilst reducing environmental impact.

The stand will also introduce the new food grade variant of ABB’s IRB 1200 compact robot. Combining fast cycle times and long reach with a class-beating turning radius, the IRB1200 can be used in confined spaces without interfering with other equipment or processes, enabling the creation of smaller cells whilst still offering fast and flexible performance.

Visitors will also be able to learn how the ABB Ability digital platform enables data from these technologies to be used to inform decision-making and production operations, creating new possibilities for end-to-end process optimisation, from power to palletising.

“Times are changing for food, beverage and pharmaceuticals producers, who must be able to respond more quickly than ever to the changing tastes and demands of today’s consumers but without compromising on quality,” says Mike Wilson, Business Development Manager for ABB Robotics UK and Ireland. “Our automation and digital technologies can help them to do this. Our ability to supply these technologies, coupled with our expertise in applying and integrating them, can be a vital first step in helping companies towards achieving a smarter, more efficient production process.”
