Timed to coincide with MACH, which runs from 20–24 April at the NEC Birmingham, Target Integration has published a new industry report titled Navigating the Energy Crisis: A Digital Survival Guide.
Aaimed at manufacturers across the UK and Ireland, the report draws on research from the International Energy Agency, the Food & Drink Federation UK, McKinsey & Company, and the Institute of Food Technologists to build the case for urgent digital investment in the face of a sustained high-energy-cost environment.
Key findings include a documented potential reduction of up to 30% in operational costs through integrated digital transformation, a 25% reduction in equipment downtime from IoT-integrated ERP deployments, and an identified £14 billion in untapped productivity gains available to UK manufacturers willing to invest in digital tools and automation.
“The businesses that are absorbing today’s cost pressures most effectively are not the ones waiting for conditions to improve. They are the ones that invest in operational efficiency before the crisis deepens,” said Rohit Thakral, CEO of Target Integration. “This report is our attempt to make that case concretely, with evidence, and to give manufacturers a practical starting point rather than another abstract argument for digital transformation.”
The report identifies integrated ERP platforms, IoT monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automated workflow design as the technologies delivering the most measurable near-term returns in manufacturing environments. It also addresses the barriers that hold businesses back, particularly upfront cost and integration complexity, and sets out a five-phase deployment roadmap designed to generate returns early and build from there.
“We work with manufacturers of all sizes, and the pattern is consistent: the biggest early wins are often not the dramatic technology deployments, but the elimination of the manual workarounds that have quietly been consuming skilled people’s time for years,” added Thakral. “MACH feels like exactly the right moment to be having this conversation. It is a show that takes manufacturing seriously, and so do we.”
Target Integration will be exhibiting at stand 17-150 throughout MACH 2026, where the report will be available and consultants will be on hand to conduct no-obligation operational assessments with businesses looking to understand where digital tools can deliver the fastest returns.
