TR Fastenings cements position in North East automotive sector with leading role in NEAA Expo 2018
TR supported the NEAA as ‘Meet the Buyer’ sponsor at the annual exhibition
TR Fastenings (TR: part of Trifast plc), the global manufacturer and distributor of industrial fastenings, sponsored the ‘Meet the Buyers’ event at this year’s North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) Expo on 27th September. The event was held at an exciting new venue this year– the Beacon of Light in Sunderland – with more than 550 visiting delegates and 130 exhibitors across the show hall.
Some of the biggest names in the region’s impressive automotive community were present at the NEAA Expo, including members of the Automotive Council Supply Chain Group. The group’s members include the Department for International Trade (DiT) Automotive Sector Team, the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, Nissan, Jaguar Land Rover, Adient Seating UK, Warwick Manufacturing Group, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), BorgWarner and ZF Lemforder UK.
TR is a full service provider to the automotive industry, specialising in supplying components to automotive Tier 1 and Tier2 businesses both in the UK and worldwide. Its global reach now extends to 31 sites with manufacturing facilities accredited to ISO 9001 and 3 to the latest IATF 16949. TR was keen to exhibit at the NEAA and sponsor the ‘Meet the Buyers’ event in order to showcase its involvement in the continuing success story generated by Nissan and its supply chain in the region.
TR also hosted a table at the pre-event dinner on Wednesday 26th September and enjoyed productive conversations about the fast-moving developments taking place in the automotive sector with guests from Unipres, Nifco, Arlington Automotive and Gestamp.
Lawrence Davies MBE, chief executive of DiT Automotive Sector Team, who delivered the keynote speech at the pre-event dinner said: “The North East is a major area for our automotive sector. A third of total build comes from Sunderland, therefore it is crucial we have opportunities like this to show off the expertise of the region.
“I can hardly believe the growth of this Expo in four years and having so many innovative companies here reflects the importance of this region and the technology of the future.”
The expo itself was extremely busy with good footfall to the TR stand.
