Bringing hardware accelerated HTML performance to VIA HMI Panel and Industrial Automation solutions using Ekioh browser technologies.

VIA Technologies, Inc. and Ekioh have announced their collaboration to accelerate the performance and ease of deployment of Ekioh browser solutions on VIA embedded platforms.

Initially focusing upon Ekioh’s WebKit-based embedded browser range and the VIA SOM-6X80, the collaboration includes the exchange of tools and technologies necessary to enable VIA customers to enjoy faster design cycles whilst using fewer resources.

“Our engineering teams have profiled Ekioh’s WebKit embedded browser and benchmarked it against a number of competing products”, said Richard Brown, Vice-President of International Marketing, VIA Technologies, Inc. “The HTML5 acceleration provided by the GPU is perfectly suited for HMI Panel and Industrial Automation applications, making it an efficient use of resources that helps distinguish Ekioh and VIA from the competition.”

“VIA offer a range of modules that bring a rich set of multimedia features and I/O capabilities in an extremely compact form factor”, said Stephen Reeder, Commercial Director at Ekioh. “I am confident that our joint solution will be very appealing for a wide range of automation and control applications.”

Customers wishing to see the benefits for themselves should contact their local VIA Technologies sales representative.
