Launched in March 2021, WEG Poland is playing  a vital role in supporting various industries across Poland and bordering countries, including Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Guided by General Sales Manager Lukasz Grzybowski, the team has quickly established itself as a reliable partner for industries requiring tailored, high-quality solutions.

WEG Poland maintains a comprehensive warehouse stocked with general-purpose motors ranging from 0.75 to 250 kilowatts (kW) allowing for rapid delivery. In addition to stocking motors, the facility is equipped with modification tables to adapt products to customer-specific requirements, such as adjusting mounting positions or integrating sensors.

The operation is further supported by WEG’s state-of-the-art logistics centre in Germany and a new greenfield factory in Portugal, which houses advanced testing facilities. “Customers can even see their solutions tested under full load conditions, ensuring they meet exact specifications,” General Sales Manager Lukasz Grzybowski explains.

Key industries and market segments

WEG Poland serves a diverse customer base and has solidified its presence in several key heavy industries. One major focus is the chemical and oil and gas sectors, where the company leverages its expertise in hazardous area equipment, offering ATEX-certified motors that meet the most stringent safety standards.

A success has been in the pulp and paper sector. In 2023, WEG Poland delivered a major project to the country’s largest pulp and paper plant. The plant, previously using no WEG motors, added WEG to its approved vendor list after a comprehensive audit of WEG’s Portuguese factory.

WEG subsequently supplied a package of 60–70 low-voltage and several medium-voltage motors — including W22, W51 HD and W50 series — valued at approximately €800,000. These motors support increased production capacity in both pulp preparation and paper machine operations. The project was notable for its close collaboration with the customer’s design office and focus on energy efficiency.

The power generation sector is another core market for WEG Poland, encompassing both traditional and renewable energy applications. In mining, the company delivers robust motor solutions tailored to the sector’s rigorous demands. WEG Poland is also expanding its footprint in food and beverage manufacturing and HVAC systems, offering customised, energy-efficient motors for these lighter industrial applications.

Achievements and investments

WEG Poland has achieved significant milestones, including vendor approval from major players in Poland’s chemical, oil and gas and pulp and paper sectors. This status ensures seamless integration of WEG products into projects managed by leading global engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors.

Grzybowski emphasises WEG Poland’s commitment to being “close to the customer.” The team works directly with customers from design through after-sales support. This includes rapid product modification capabilities through WEG Poland’s in-house modification centre. Mechanical changes, sensor integrations and specialist paint jobs can often be completed within days, with more complex tasks completed in under two weeks. For more advanced needs, WEG relies on a trusted network of certified third-party service centres.

Future growth and sustainability

Looking ahead, WEG Poland is focused on growth in renewables. As Poland works to shift away from fossil fuels, WEG is positioned to support the transition with complete battery energy storage solutions. These include transformers, converters and even battery cells — all produced within the WEG Group.
