Honda, Volkswagen, Honda R&D Motorcyle, Castrol, Ansys, Timken and the British Gears Association are just some of the industry names that will be presenting at the annual Romax Technology Global Forum.

The Global Forum will take place on the 7th & 8th October 2014, at the Darmstadtium Conference Centre Darmstadt, Germany. It presents an opportunity for customers, industry experts and users of Romax software and services to interact and discuss the latest innovations in gear design and engineering. The theme of this year’s event will focus on Achieving Right First Time Design and will also include an inaugural user group on the evening of the 6th October.

Now into its 9th year, this is the first time the event has had a global rather than European focus and is intended to appeal to all Romax software and services customers from around the world.

The event will include a series of customer presentations and workshops discussing the principals of Romax Right First Time philosophy and how these can be adapted within the design process. Presentations will include:

– Juri Kniss, calculation engineer, at Volkswagen discussing the importance of R&D during the application and development process

– Hibiki Saito, assistant chief engineer for Honda R&D Motorcycles presenting its experiences of applying RomaxDESIGNER to gear noise analysis of motorcycles

– Andreas Bohne, OEM liaison manager for Castrol discussing lubricants as a design element

Jonathan Airey, group director of software and services at Romax states that in light of pressures to deliver products to market quicker, Right First Time will start to play a more prominent role : “Organisations are being put under increased pressure to identify problems at the earliest design phase – failure to do so can have serious long-term effects across the entire production process and as time to market speeds up, organisations are pushing to have design problems highlighted and addressed as early as possible.

“The subject of Right First Time is very topical, and we believe it will prompt plenty of debate at this year’s forum. We have some excellent names scheduled to speak at the two-day event, and combined with the case studies and demonstrations, will provide attendees with lots of information to take away with them.”
