Lenze gave an exclusive preview of the new i950 multi drive at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg. The preview showed an evolutionary expansion of the servo portfolio for modular multi-axis servo drives with integrated DC rail system.

The new drive builds consistently on previous solutions and addresses the increasing demands for performance, scalability and user-friendliness in industrial automation. This provides machine builders with a future-proof upgrade path for sophisticated motion control systems.

i950 multi drive: Evolution and efficiency for the next generation Machine builders are faced with the challenge of implementing increasingly complex and dynamic motion tasks efficiently and in a space-saving manner. At the same time, the requirements for scalability and fast commissioning are increasing. This is precisely where the i950 multi drive comes in.

“With the i950 multi drive, we are expanding our servo portfolio in an evolutionary way and setting a new standard for modular, powerful and future-proof servo drive solutions. Our new product combines the strengths of the successful i750 and i950 devices and thus offers a very high power density, compact design and maximum flexibility – with significantly simplified installation and commissioning,” explains Daniel Repp, Product Manager Motion Control of the Lenze Group.

A tried-and-tested DC rail system has been integrated into the proven functional scope of the i950 servo drive platform, which significantly simplifies cabling and creates noticeable time and cost benefits. The integrated DC-Link functionality contributes to further optimization of the system design. With a power range from 0.55 to 30 kW and increased overload capacity, the i950 multi drive impresses with its compact design, without compromising on modularity and flexibility. Hybrid motor connectors ensure faster and error-reduced installation.

The platform allows seamless migration from 9400 and i950 single drive systems to advanced multi-axis architectures while retaining the familiar and flexible i950 single drive modularity. Selectable fieldbus modules ensure smooth integration into control architectures from other manufacturers. Integrated safety functions such as Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE), ProfiSAFE and the Safety Validation Tool offer a high level of safety. The i950 multi drive supportsboth synchronous and asynchronous motors, OneCable Technology and the control of linear and torque motors. Maximum torque density and fast current control enable precise and dynamic motion control.

Versatile application options and future-proof
The i950 multi drive is ideal for demanding motion tasks that require precise, dynamic and synchronized sequences. Typical applications include printing andforming systems with multiple axes, automated packaging lines, high-precisioncutting and forming machines and storage and retrieval machines. The drive enables simple integration, reduces variant diversity and bearing complexityand ensures long-term availability and investment protection.

“With the i950 multi drive, we are shaping the future of motion control and consistently developing our servo portfolio further. Our customers benefit from a powerful, flexible and easy-to-integrate solution that meets the increasing demands for efficiency, safety and connectivity,” concludes Repp.
