M&I Materials, a global leader in commercialising specialist materials for demanding applications in industry and science, has appointed Amanda Quadling to the role of Technical Director, as the company expands its footprint in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Europe and the Americas.

Based in the company’s Manchester office, Quadling will be responsible for delivering excellence in technical support services for customers worldwide and driving technical developments for new projects and technologies across M&I Materials and its brand portfolio: APIEZON®, METROSIL®, MIDEL® and WOLFMET®.

Giles Salt, M&I Materials CEO, says: “We are fortunate to count among our customer base leading global organisations from Siemens and ABB to Cern, the Three Gorges Dam and Boeing. She will also further develop our market-leading knowledge of properties and the behaviours of selected materials to help us commercialise new products that make our customers’ innovations possible.”

Drawing on more than a decade’s experience in exploration and mining services, followed by three years as Director at Morgan Advanced Materials, Quadling brings a breadth of expertise to the role, which will serve applications from aerospace and nuclear to motorsports and power.

Quadling adds: “I’m thrilled to be joining the company at such an exciting stage in its development. M&I Materials has the ability and agility to take on new projects and technologies at pace. This is a global business with an incredible knowledge base and an appetite for leading-edge research. I’m looking forward to bringing my experience in developing networks with academic and industry collaborators to bear, and engaging with M&I Materials.”
