image1 mediumTwo helical gearboxes have been added to B&R’s premium family which are said to offer excellent synchronisation characteristics and a very low noise level at high speeds.

The new 8GP70 series has a shaft output and the 8GF70 series a drive flange. As with all the company’s premium gearboxes, these offer minimal backlash, but there is an option available for reducing it even further to <1 arcminute. In addition, they can handle high axial and radial forces, while their high power density and IP65 rating mean that they can be used in an extremely wide range of applications.

The gearboxes can be used whenever an application places especially high demands on smooth operation, synchronicity and low excitation frequencies. One
example is woodworking machines, which can produce much smoother surfaces with less chatter; while printing machines can render a more consistent printed
image. In addition, as there is less heat build-up, high-speed machines can run even faster.

Both the new gearboxes are available in five different sizes with gear ratios ranging from i=3 to i=100.
